If you are looking for a great family holiday stay while you are in Cairns, we recommend the BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Cairns Coconut resort. We spent a few days exploring Cairns and the surrounding area and thoroughly loved our stay here. Note to self, we must stay much longer next time!
The range of cabins at the holiday park is amazing and the caravan sites are so well spaced. The caravan sites are large, all angled so that each site seemed even more spacious, and all with plenty of room between them providing privacy. The park had equally great campsites as well. We stayed in a caravan site as well as a powered camp site. (Due to heavy bookings we did have to move sites, which was fine by us).
The park has an amazing array of family entertainment with top quality facilities throughout the park! Local Tour booking facility on-site, fuel bowsers for easy access to fuel, cafe and bar, groceries, ice and water station, gymnasium, fantastic swimming pool and spa with picnic grounds, awesome mini golf, huge kids playground, a full size tennis court, relaxing bbq areas and much more.... Its also dog friendly!
On top of this, the park has views of the tropical rainforest covered mountains as a backdrop. Stunning!
If you need any ideas for a day trip from Cairns then look no further than a trip to Kuranda. Kuranda Village is a really great FULL day trip from Cairns. The mountain village of Kuranda is surrounded by the worlds oldest living rainforest and it is just 25km from Cairns.
Ther are plenty of fun and interesting things to keep you busy in Kuranda Village. Discover beautiful walking tracks, take a ranger guided rainforest tour, hop on a river cruise, visit the butterfly sanctuary or bird world, have a bite to eat in one of the many cafes, perhaps buy a piece of art from the local aboriginal art gallery, do a spot of gift shopping and much more.
For a special journey you will remember, you can access Kuranda Village via the Kuranda Scenic Railway or the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway - ( I still had memories of the Kuranda Railway from childhood). It was fantastic to return to this destination once again and create many more memories to look back on in the future.
You will see the world’s oldest tropical rainforest from above, on the Skyrail in the World Heritage listed Barron Gorge National Park. The Skyrail is located just 15 minutes north of Cairns and an easy drive from the BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Coconut Cairns Resort.
With so much more left for us to see in the Cairns region, we look forward to a return trip in the future!
